Dad had an early 240z. It was rusting body panels badly by the late 70's and one a drive home from church, my sister lost a jellybean down the defroster vent on top fo the dashboard. the next day the engine cracked a cylinder wall. The engine came out and dad finally accepted a ‘company car’ in place of it . My sister thought it was all her fault!

Also, I’m not sure how the engine (is that a V8?) atta ches, but it appears to have some sort of all/4-wheel drivetrain... Interesting!

Maybe the front differential is part of a transmission that extend s forward ( obscured by that bulkhead in the pic ) , and the engine mounts on top of that whole assembly, like on an old Saab 900.
